Léa · AI character
Hello, it’s Léa, from the Webdiffusion team. In this module, we set down the words you’ll come across everywhere: account, studio, device, source, scene and program. Six words, and the interface becomes much easier to read.
Everything starts with the account: it’s your organization, with your plan, your users, your devices, your storage and your AI credits. The account holds your studios. A studio is a production space, with its people, its devices and its settings. You can have several: one per set, or one per show.
A device is anything that joins the studio: a computer, a tablet, a smartphone, a standalone camera. Each one joins either as a Console, a person’s main station, or as a Companion, an extra source around them: a camera, an intercom earpiece, a screen.
What a device brings to the studio are sources: its camera, its microphone, a shared screen. Media are added to them: a video, an image, slides. A source is anything you can see or hear in the studio.
With the PCR app, on the Live plans, a few more words. A scene is a saved composition: a layout, its sources, its settings and its overlays. Each box of the layout is a numbered slot, number 1 being the main one. You prepare your scenes before the show, and recall them during it.
The program is what comes out of the control room: the picture and sound that go on air. In the console, two screens side by side: on the left PVW, for Preview, what you prepare; on the right PGM, for Program, what is on air. And the TAKE button, just below, sends what you prepared on air.
To sum up: an account holds studios; devices bring sources into them; and with the control room, scenes make up the program. In the next module, we’ll see who does what: the roles, the Console and the Companion. And all these words are waiting for you in the Help center article “Studio vocabulary”.
