Léa · AI character
Hello, it’s Léa, from the Webdiffusion team. In this module, we’ll see who does what in a studio: the roles, and the two ways to join it with a device, the Console and the Companion.
In a studio, everyone has a role, and what they see depends on it. Attendee sees the backstage. Operator handles the cameras, the lights, the prompter and the recording, without touching the program. Director has full control. And Admin also manages the studio itself.
Each person joins the studio with a main device: their Console, usually a computer. The Console shows the views their role allows, and each person has only one per studio.
Any other device around them is a Companion: a smartphone used as an extra camera, an intercom earpiece, or a display screen in the room. A smartphone is always a Companion.
On a computer, you switch from one mode to another in the studio app: in the header, the mode pill offers Companion, or Attendee, Operator and Director, depending on what your role allows.
To join, everyone gets the right link. In the manager, from the Users & Devices screen, an administrator gives the Console link, for a computer, or the Companion link, for a phone or an extra device. Both are also available as QR codes.
That’s who does what: a role for what you see, a Console to work on, Companions as backup. In the next module, Hugo shows you Backstage and Live: the same studio, with or without a control room. And to go further, the article “Console and Companion” is waiting for you in the Help center.
What you will be able to do
Know what each role sees and does — Attendee, Operator, Director, Admin.
Tell the Console (your main device) from the Companions (the extra devices).
Know where to find the right link to enter the studio.
